Relying on God: Dustin's Story

Although Dustin had been attending church and participating in ministry since childhood, he recently felt like God was asking him to make a change. So, he started to listen.

“As my family grew it was laid on my heart to look for a change,” shared Dustin. “The timing of this prompting was unique, as it was at the beginning of Covid. Through research and attending different churches, it became evident to me that God was leading us to New Covenant.

After faithfully attending for five years, once again God laid it on my heart that he wanted more.” When Dustin saw the Pursuing God class promoted, he felt God was leading him to take it.

“I was excited for what God and this class could provide. It was great to be surrounded by other God-fearing men to be able to bounce ideas off and learn from.”

But more than offering accountability and community, the class challenged Dustin to grow in areas he didn’t know he needed. Through this process he began to rely on God in new and deeper ways.

“Although I was able to pick up many different ideas to apply to my personal walk, it was not without hurdles. There were weeks where time was a concern. There were lessons that were harder to dig into than others. And there were also weeks where Satan would try and attack anyway he could.”

But as Dustin was faithful to obey God’s prompting to draw closer to Him, he was blessed and strengthened.

“This class helped me experience God in many different ways. From practicing Sabbath, to fasting, to praying over 24 hours, to using study references, and many others, I learned tools that helped me grow in my personal walk with God. I hope to be able to continue to pursue God amidst the many things of life that Satan will throw at me.

Time limitations, distractions, self- doubt, etc. I hope to be able to take the follow up classes to continue to build my walk with God in as many areas as I can.”
